Our partners' perspectives
“I am very pleased about the first World Prurigo Day. It gives those of us affected a voice, makes the disease more visible, and promotes exchange with experts.”
Linda Stockmeier from the German Facebook self-help group – Prurigo nodularis + simplex
“Itching is a tough test for everyone involved. Forbidding scratching is pointless. You can't suppress a severe itching attack! It only ends when the skin is scratched and the pain relieves the itching. Itching can quickly change life for the worse. Whether in kindergarten, at school, at work, or at home. Itching is distracting and disrupts normal physical and mental processes. Additionally, those around the person often don't fully understand this individual drama and draw false conclusions about the often associated human misbehavior of those trapped in the itch-scratch cycle. Only research, information, and understanding support can help. The German Atopic Eczema Association congratulates the initiators of World Prurigo Day 2025 for their helpful and valuable foresight. Those affected will thank you!”
